Starting this summer 2021
The Kusoma Reading Circle is a virtual summer reading club designed for children and youth who LOVE reading, or who need encouragement to engage in the wonderful world of reading.
Join us this summer on Thursdays, July 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 4pm to 6pm for fun, engaging and interactive activities geared for children as young as 3 years old and up.
Kusoma means reading in swahili
Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the bodyQuotes
Welcome to the Kusoma Reading Circle, where we encourage readers of all reading levels and ages to discover great books, share new stories, explore important topics, and have some bookish fun! From book-themed activities to printable discussion, you’ll find plenty of inspiration for a great conversation. This exciting four week series will run throughout the month of July. Children from ages 4-18 will have an opportunity to read various exciting books throughout the month and be able to virtually meet other readers to talk and share about what they read!
The books that we will read as part of the Kusoma Reading Circle will celebrate diversity with books written by Black, Indigenous and racialized authors. We will explore themes such as belonging, community, mindfulness, Black identity and many others. All reading levels, from beginners to advanced, are welcome!
