Kujenga “Attachment” Art Therapy Group Program
Caregiver Child Attachment Program: Art Therapy Series I, Play Therapy Series II
Secure attachment relationships with caregivers allows children the ‘secure base’ necessary to explore, learn and relate, and the wellbeing, motivation, and opportunity to do so. Caregivers and children working in family groups of dyads or triads can gradually learn, explore and strengthen healthy attachment relationships through this twelve week psychoeducational and experience-based programming at our Pickering office. These sessions are beginning in November 2022 spanning to 2023 in Part I Attachment Play Therapy and Part II Art-Based attachment sessions.
In Part I, art therapy activities will gently guide caregivers and children in building communication skills, parent observation skills, problem-solving and attachment trust and security.
Through Part II mental health professionals will model and facilitate play therapy activities with the group to strengthen attachment bonds and parenting skills. This group is open to all families and caregivers will be connected for a welcoming intake call before programming begins for facilitators to answer any questions, identify if the program would be a good fit and gather required information to support clients through the program.
